This piece is a tribute to the sacrifices made (not always willingly) by animals for the will of man. The horse, more than any other animal, has been used and abused, beyond all good conscience and yet remains obedient as ever. If there is a final judgment to be rendered upon mankind, it must surely include a scathing indictment for our treatment of animals-especially in war.
