“The Letter From Home”

Lifesize Commission for the Cook Museum at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas – Installation Spring 2002
Depicts emotions of longing felt by soldiers on many battlefields in many wars.

During a lull in the battle, this young Confederate soldier, with Boyle, Gamble and MacFee sabre bayonet fixed on his “Mississippi” rifle ready for the next charge, takes a few precious moments–possibly his last–to read for perhaps the hundredth time the “Letter from Home.”
